Carlos Yulo, the Filipino gymnastics sensation known for his Olympic success and rigorous training regime, is planning to shift his focus on personal milestones. The 24-year-old, who brought home two gold medals from the Paris Olympics, revealed that he is looking forward to tying the knot next year with his long-time girlfriend, Chloe Anjeleigh San Jose, with hopes of starting a family after the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
“We want to get married next year,” Yulo shared during an intimate gathering in Bonifacio Global City hosted by Gambia Consul Agnes Huibonhoa and businesswoman Tina Cuevas for Joanne Rae Ramirez on her 25th year as editor-in-chief of PeopleAsia magazine. The athlete, renowned for his intense training schedule, also mentioned that he hopes to have children after he competes in the LA Olympics.
Yulo and Chloe, who first connected online in 2019 after she became a fan of his, have been together for several years, solidifying their relationship after meeting in person at the 2021 Southeast Asian Games in Vietnam.
“She started to follow me on Twitter. After the SEA Games, she sent me a message, and that started it all,” Yulo shared with a smile. Their bond grew stronger during the pandemic through online dating, and now the couple lives together in a three-bedroom condominium unit in McKinley Hill, a prize from Megaworld Corp.
Carlos is currently taking a break from his grueling six-hour daily training routine, but even with his downtime, his discipline remains intact. He is also involved in several endorsements and is taking advantage of his break to explore the Philippines, with Palawan at the top of his list.
The gymnast, who attributes his stunted growth to his non-stop training, stays focused on his future both in and out of the sport, saying, “I need a real vacation,” as he looks ahead to both his career and personal life milestones.
