BI: No recent travel recorded for Harry Roque amid arrest order by Congress

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) confirmed there are no recent records of former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque leaving the country, despite an arrest order issued by the House of Representatives.

“Sa ngayon po, wala po tayong record ng any recent travel po ni Harry Roque,” BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval said during an interview with Unang Balita on Thursday.

The House’s Quadrennial Committee (QuadComm) cited Roque in contempt on September 13 after he failed to submit documents explaining a significant increase in his assets. The QuadComm pointed to Roque’s family’s business, Biancham Holdings and Trading, whose assets grew from P125,000 in 2014 to P67.7 million by 2018.

Roque, however, dismissed the arrest order, accusing Congress of “power tripping” and maintaining he is not a fugitive. “Pugante ako sa Kongreso lamang, wala po akong pakialam,” Roque stated in a Facebook live video on September 16.

Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) has struggled to locate Roque, though they claim to have a strong lead on his whereabouts.
