A German national was taken into custody at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 after physically assaulting a police officer during the final security screening. The incident occurred as the passenger was preparing to board a flight to Vancouver, Canada.
According to initial reports, the passenger refused to comply with security screening procedures, despite repeated instructions from Office for Transportation Security (OTS) personnel. The situation escalated into a heated confrontation, during which the passenger allegedly pushed and kicked a responding officer.
As a result, the passenger was arrested and charged with violations of Articles 148 (direct assault) and 151 (resistance and disobedience to authority) of the Revised Penal Code.
The passenger remains in the custody of NAIA Police Station 1 and is awaiting inquest proceedings. Brig. Gen. Christopher Abrahano, chief of the Police Aviation Security Group, praised his team’s swift action in handling the incident, reaffirming their dedication to ensuring the safety and security of all airport passengers.
