Four convicted American pedophiles intercepted by Bureau of Immigration at NAIA

The Bureau of Immigration has apprehended four convicted American pedophiles attempting to enter the Philippines through Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on separate occasions since mid-September.

In a statement released on Tuesday, October 8, the bureau reported that the most recent arrest occurred on October 3, when Rodney Wendell Mathis, 59, arrived at NAIA Terminal 3 from Bangkok on a Thai Airways flight. Mathis was convicted in 1997 for lewd acts with a minor.

The first interception happened on September 13, involving Terry Petersen, 70, who arrived from Hong Kong. Petersen was convicted in 1992 for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old child.

On September 19, Richard Allison Boice, 71, was stopped at NAIA Terminal 1 after arriving from Tokyo. Boice had a 2009 conviction for possession of child pornography.

The fourth interception took place on September 24, when Kevin James Bearden, 56, was apprehended after arriving from Hong Kong. Bearden was convicted in 2021 on charges related to child pornography.

All four men have been blacklisted and are permanently banned from re-entering the Philippines.
