Julie Anne San Jose’s church performance draws backlash, issues public apology for offense caused

Julie Anne San Jose has issued a public apology following the backlash from her recent performance at the Nuestra Señora Del Pilar Shrine in Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro. The singer-actress faced criticism after singing popular songs such as “Edge of Glory” by Lady Gaga and “Dancing Queen” by ABBA during a benefit concert at the church.

In her statement, San Jose expressed her regret, acknowledging that her performance caused distress among some attendees. “I am offering my apologies,” she said. “Even though my only intentions were to share joy and give support to the church through the benefit concert, many have felt offended about the incident and my performance. I truly, sincerely apologize.”

San Jose assured the public that she has learned from the experience and vowed that such incidents would not happen again. “This is a lesson learned, and it is assured that it will not be repeated,” she added. “I am not perfect, but please know that I have strong beliefs, and my faith is unbreakable.”

Prior to San Jose’s personal apology, Sparkle GMA Artist Center, the talent agency managing her, also released a statement. The agency took full responsibility for her attendance at the event, stating that it was their duty to coordinate and relay instructions properly.

“Julie Anne only fulfilled her duties and commitment as a true professional. She is a devout Catholic and had no intention of disrespecting the Church and its members,” Sparkle said. They also extended their apologies to those offended, including their own artist, Julie Anne San Jose, and pledged to be more diligent in the future.
