Retailers in the UAE have reported no major disruptions in the supply of fruits, vegetables, and other goods despite ongoing regional conflicts, including the war in Gaza and the crisis in Beirut.
Local traders, who source commodities from countries such as Lebanon, Palestine, and Iran, emphasized that the current tensions have had a limited impact on supply chains. In a Khaleej Times report, they assured that their diverse sourcing strategies, both locally and globally, are keeping supplies stable.
Dr. Suhail Al Bastaki, chief community relations officer at Union Coop, highlighted in the same report that the company has expanded its sourcing network, obtaining fresh produce from Europe, Asia, and other regions to ensure the availability of products. He added that reliable local alternatives have been secured to maintain quality and avoid shortages.
Kamal Vachani, group director of Al Maya Group, also confirmed that they are well-positioned to meet customer demands by leveraging local agriculture and international supply chains. “Any shortages in imported products will have minimal impact on consumers due to the availability of homegrown produce,” Vachani said.
Safeer Market’s fresh food manager, Ashraf El Gamal, echoed similar sentiments, stating that logistics have continued uninterrupted, and their flexible sourcing approach ensures the market remains unaffected by current geopolitical tensions.
Retailers affirmed that they will continue to monitor the situation closely while maintaining fair prices and service quality.
