The Stronger than Cancer Walkathon, held on September 27, 2024, drew 740 participants in a collective effort to raise awareness and support for childhood cancer. The event was organized by Filipino Club Bahrain in collaboration with Smile Bahrain, following a Childhood Cancer Awareness session held at the Embassy on September 1, 2024.
Mr. Yusuf Lori, Director of Information and Follow-Up at the Capital Governorate, played a key role in securing the necessary paperwork for the event, with additional support from Mr. Jehad of Water Garden City. On September 10, 2024, a meeting was held at the Capital Governorate office, where Filipino Club Bahrain President Rosemarie Hernandez and event organizers finalized the plans.
On October 2, 2024, a donation of BD300 was presented to Smile Bahrain. The ceremony was attended by Ambassador H.E. Anne Jaladon-on Louis, officials from the Philippine Embassy, and the Filipino Club Bahrain Executive Committee. Representatives from Smile, including Ms. Reham and board members Mr. Saijad Alqallaf and Dr. Amal Alqallaf, were also present to highlight the continued efforts in supporting children battling cancer in Bahrain.
