Dubai is gearing up to position itself as one of the world’s leading cashless cities by 2033, with a new strategy set to revolutionize digital transactions across the emirate. The Executive Council of Dubai, under the leadership of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, approved five major plans that aim to enhance the city as a global hub for education, investment, and living.
The Dubai Cashless Strategy, one of the key components, aims to contribute Dh8 billion to the economy by increasing the use of digital payments across all sectors. By 2033, all businesses in Dubai will be expected to accept digital transactions, marking the city’s transition away from cash-based payments. The strategy seeks to place Dubai among the top five cashless cities in the world, further boosting its global competitiveness.
This initiative is part of a broader effort under the Dubai Plan 2033 and Dubai Social Agenda 33, which also includes ambitious goals in education, real estate, transport, and heritage preservation.
