10 administration-backed senatorial aspirants lead in latest SWS survey

Ten out of twelve administration-endorsed senatorial candidates for the 2025 midterm elections have claimed top spots in the recent Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey, conducted from September 14 to 23. The survey, commissioned by the Stratbase Group, highlights voter preferences ahead of the electoral race.

ACT-CIS Party-list Representative Erwin Tulfo maintained his leading position, garnering 54 percent of voter preference. Former Senate President Vicente Sotto III secured second place with 34 percent, followed closely by Senator Pia Cayetano in third with 31 percent.

Tied for fourth and fifth spots were Senator Imee Marcos, sister of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., and former President Rodrigo Duterte, both receiving 25 percent support from respondents.

Other administration-backed aspirants in the top ranks include former Senator Panfilo Lacson and Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., who shared the sixth to seventh positions with 24 percent each. Las Piñas City Representative Camille Villar followed with 21 percent, while Makati City Mayor Abigail Binay and Senator Manuel “Lito” Lapid both garnered 20 percent.

Former Senator Manny Pacquiao, currently tied for 11th to 13th place, rounded out the top 12 administration-endorsed candidates. He shared the spot with senators Christopher “Bong” Go and Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa.

However, not all administration-backed candidates made it to the top. Local Government Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. and Senate Majority Leader Francis Tolentino did not secure a spot in the winning circle, according to the survey results.

The SWS survey, involving face-to-face interviews with 1,500 respondents from Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, has a national sampling error margin of ±2.5%. The Stratbase Group commissioned the survey to gauge early voter sentiments for the 2025 elections.

President Marcos has expressed his confidence in the administration’s senatorial lineup, hoping they would help further his agenda for the country. “This is a movement that will unite the forces of those who love our country,” he said, adding that the administration’s candidates are committed to standing up for the interests of Filipinos.
