‘Higher fees, same service’: Slow parking exit at NAIA Terminal 3 sparks outrage despite fee hike

A recent social media post from a frustrated driver, Toniboy Raval Macapagal, highlighted the ongoing service issues at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3, despite the significant increase in parking fees implemented on October 1, 2024. Macapagal took to Facebook to share his experience of being stuck for almost 25 minutes while trying to exit the parking area, sparking discussions among netizens.

“Stuck for almost 25 minutes just to get out of NAIA T3 parking with just one booth operating. Higher fees but same service you expect from our premier airport. Mabuhay ang bagong NAIA!” Macapagal posted, expressing his dissatisfaction with the lack of visible improvements despite the steep fee hike.

The overnight parking rate for cars at NAIA jumped 300%, from PHP 300 to PHP 1,200. Motorcycles now face a fee of PHP 480 for overnight parking. The hike, introduced by New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC), is part of the airport’s efforts to fund modernization and improve services. However, incidents like the one shared by Macapagal are leading many to question whether these improvements are taking effect.

Netizens quickly chimed in with their own experiences. One commenter wrote, “Grabeeee. Lakas ng loob maningil agad ng malaki tapos wala pang changes/improvement na naganap. Jusko,” while another added, “Same issue kanina. Sobrang bagal lumabas kanina!!!”

Others pointed out similar frustrations in other parts of the airport, with one user mentioning, “Kahapon ang haba ng pila sa check in, priority lane pa with seniors and baby… Congrats NAIA TERMINAL 3, YOU MADE IT! SLAYYY PO KAYO.”

The fee increase has stirred significant public reaction, particularly from frequent travelers who feel that the higher costs should come with better service. NNIC has maintained that the fee hike is necessary to fund upgrades and optimize parking availability, but many are left wondering when they will see the promised improvements.
