Dubai’s music scene is set for an ethereal night as Filipino dream pop duo WYWY will perform live at The Fridge’s Concert Series 44 on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at 8 PM. The duo will bring their debut album, Whispers of Existence, to life, performing the full album for the first time since its release in April 2024. Fans can expect an immersive performance, as WYWY blends their signature sound of atmospheric melodies with themes of life’s quiet yet profound moments.
Formed in 2015 by X and Mckie Alvarez, WYWY draws inspiration from influential bands like Cocteau Twins and Radiohead. Their album Whispers of Existence, which reflects six years of personal and artistic growth, showcases ten tracks that evoke a dreamlike state, making the listener reflect on personal experiences and emotions. A standout feature of the album is their collaboration with Simon Scott of Slowdive, which has added to their sonic depth.
In this special concert, WYWY will be joined by their close friends and creative collaborators, Memoryall Visuals (Martin & Yasha), who will enhance the dreamy ambiance with stunning visuals. Serg Volant, featuring Maudyf, will also take the stage alongside a surprise guest, adding more excitement to the lineup.
The performance is part of The Fridge’s iconic Concert Series, which is now in its 44th season. Running over four weeks in October, the series showcases original music by some of the UAE’s finest talents. This season, sponsored by Lee Cooper at Shoemart, spans a diverse array of genres, including hip-hop, jazz, electronic, urban soul, dream pop, and Arabic pop, reflecting the rich and evolving music scene in the UAE. The Fridge Warehouse in Alserkal Avenue serves as the backdrop for these dynamic performances, providing an intimate yet vibrant venue where music comes alive.
