Employee claims he was fired after feeding stray dogs near Quezon City restaurant

A Goto Tendon branch in Quezon City has faced online backlash after allegedly firing an employee who fed stray dogs. Vhal Sardia, also known as content creator Baldawgs, shared on social media that he was terminated after posting videos of himself feeding animals near the store, where he worked for five years.

In a Facebook post, Sardia explained that his supervisor reported him to the company after one of his videos, which has since gone viral with over 11 million views. “Hindi ko po kasi napigilan na sila ay bigyan ng pagkain kaya’t madalas ang ginagawa ko ay pagpapakain sa kanila off duty or break time ko,” he shared.

Despite losing his job, Sardia expressed no regret for helping the animals, saying, “Masakit man sa akin na mawala ako sa aking trabaho…ipagpapatuloy ko pa rin ang nais kong tulungan ang mga kawawang aso at pusa.”

Sardia also detailed how he was asked to write a letter of explanation, but refused to sign a document that he disagreed with, leading to a tense encounter with HR. “Nagpatawag ng other employee, pinasara at pinabantay ang pinto para hindi ako makalabas sa office,” he recalled, adding that the incident left him with “fear and trauma.”

While many netizens supported Sardia’s compassion for strays, some acknowledged the importance of sanitation in food establishments. “Sanitation and food safety is important in all food industries,” one user commented, suggesting Sardia feed the animals after his shift. Others, however, questioned the company’s decision to fire him, calling it harsh and unnecessary.

The incident has led to an outpouring of support for Sardia, with some even offering him potential job opportunities.
