The Philippine Embassy in Lebanon has urged Filipinos to stay vigilant and avoid certain areas near Beirut following Israeli air strikes targeting Hezbollah’s headquarters on September 27, 2024. In an advisory issued on Saturday, the embassy confirmed multiple explosions in Beirut’s southern suburbs as a result of the attack.
“Filipino nationals are strongly advised to avoid the southern suburbs of Beirut and other areas mentioned in prior advisories,” the embassy stated. The embassy emphasized the ongoing hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah and reiterated the importance of leaving Lebanon, particularly for undocumented Filipinos.
Filipinos requiring assistance are encouraged to reach out to the embassy or the Migrant Workers Office (MWO-Lebanon) through designated hotline numbers. “Your safety is our priority, and the embassy is closely monitoring the situation,” the advisory added.
Israel’s air strikes, reportedly targeting Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, caused significant damage in the area, with air raids heard in the early hours of Saturday, according to Reuters.
