New zombie film ’28 Years Later’ shot with iPhone 15 Pro Max technology

Acclaimed filmmaker Danny Boyle has taken an innovative approach by using iPhone 15 Pro Max devices to shoot his upcoming film 28 Years Later, the highly anticipated sequel to 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later. According to tech outlet WIRED, the movie, which reportedly has a budget of $75 million (P4.1 billion), was filmed with adapted iPhones, pushing the boundaries of smartphone filmmaking.

This revelation came after a paparazzi photo of actress Jodie Comer standing next to an iPhone-based modular camera system surfaced in July. Sources connected to the production later confirmed the use of iPhones for the movie.

Boyle’s original film 28 Days Later was notable for its unique use of a Canon XL-1 digital camera, which was unconventional for Hollywood at the time. The upcoming third installment in the post-apocalyptic series will see Cillian Murphy returning to his iconic role, alongside an ensemble cast featuring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer, Ralph Fiennes, Jack O’Connell, Erin Kellyman, and Edvin Ryding. The film is slated for release in 2025.
