Dubai’s first air taxi service set for early 2026 debut, linking airport and major landmarks

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is gearing up to announce the first station for its air taxi project, with official operations expected to begin in the first quarter of 2026. The ambitious project will initially launch four strategic stations, offering a modern and efficient mode of transport to key locations across the city, including Dubai International Airport, Downtown, Dubai Marina, and Palm Jumeirah.

Khalid Al Awadhi, Director of Transportation Systems at RTA, emphasized the air taxi’s potential to revolutionize autonomous air transport, focusing on links to hotels and the airport. The air taxis, powered by electricity, are environmentally friendly and emit low noise levels, providing a sustainable alternative to traditional transportation.

Tyler Trerotola of Joby Aviation, the exclusive operator of the air taxis for six years, highlighted the benefits of the service, including reducing travel time from the airport to Palm Jumeirah to just 10-12 minutes. The air taxis can accommodate four passengers and a pilot, reaching speeds of up to 320kmph.

This initiative is part of Dubai’s commitment to smart mobility and sustainable innovation, aiming to reduce traffic congestion and carbon emissions while enhancing the city’s tourism appeal.
