Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) awarded a brand-new Land Cruiser Prado to Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo, who made history by winning two gold medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The luxury SUV was handed over during a ceremonial event held at TMP’s manufacturing plant in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, attended by hundreds of employees and top executives.
Leading the turnover were TMP President Masando Hashimoto and Vice Chairman Dr. David Go, along with other senior management and union representatives. Yulo was also given a tour of the plant, where he saw how locally assembled Toyota models such as the Vios, Innova, and the upcoming Tamaraw are produced.
In his speech, TMP President Hashimoto praised Yulo for his remarkable achievements, stating, “Thank you, Caloy, for being an inspiration. Like the Prado, you are legendary in every way. We hope the Prado will Move Your World and help you achieve even more.”
Yulo, who became the first Filipino and Southeast Asian to win multiple Olympic golds, expressed his gratitude to Toyota, saying, “I know this gift isn’t just about me. It’s about this community that has been cheering me on. Toyota, I am so grateful to be a part of your team, this leading brand, this community, and I hope that this gift will inspire others to also chase their own dreams and never give up.”
Yulo will be driving a 2025 Land Cruiser Prado, which he chose in the White Pearl Mica colorway, featuring a 2.4 turbo engine and automatic transmission.
