The Philippine Association for Teachers and Educators (PAFTE), Inc. – United Arab Emirates (PAFTE-UAE) recently concluded its “Thanksgiving Celebration 2024” for the successful examinees of the Special Professional Licensure Examination – Licensure Examination for Teachers 2024 (SPLE-LET), which was held on June 18, 2024, at the Philippine Global School in Abu Dhabi and the Philippine School in Dubai. This Thanksgiving Celebration was organized for the first batch of successful passers by PAFTE-UAE. The event carried the theme “Creating a Community of Professional Teachers and Educators: Empowering Future Leaders,” aligning with the organization’s first year of operations. The celebration took place at DoubleTree by Hilton, Fujairah, on Saturday, September 14, 2024. Gracing the occasion to pay tribute to our modern-day heroes, who are also OFWs, were Consul General Marford Angeles and Vice Consul Jim Jimeno.
The PAFTE-UAE Officers are as follows: Founding Chairman Dr. Fermin Castillo, Jr., LPT, Post-Doc; Vice Chairman Jacinto Gallarte, LPT (Top 2 SPLE LET 2019); Secretary Esmeralda Blando, LPT; Treasurer Lullu Celestra, LPT; Auditor Pinkie Ocampo, LPT, MAED; and PRO Nelson Ternida, LPT, MAED. PAFTE-UAE is the only teachers’ organization that offers free membership to its aspiring examinees. They provided free review sessions, final coaching, and even a scientific calculator subsidy for Mathematics majors. PAFTE-UAE supports and advocates the vision and mission of its parent organization, PAFTE, in helping sustain and uplift the teaching profession.
In the recently concluded SPLE LET exam, PAFTE-UAE achieved a 68.75% passing rate, the highest among all groups in the Middle East and Singapore. Their first-time takers achieved a remarkable 100% pass rate, making them the most successful group this year. Their accomplishment was praised by the new Secretary of the Department of Education, Sec. Sonny Angara, who sent a congratulatory letter to PAFTE-UAE. The Professional Regulation Commission, through Dr. Rosita Navarro, Chairperson for Professional Teachers, also commended PAFTE-UAE. In addition, Presidential Adviser for Poverty Alleviation, Sec. Larry Gadon, sent an inspirational message to the passers. The Philippine Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Amb. Alphonso Ferdinand Ver, gave his highest salute to the passers, while PAFTE National President Dr. Brenda Corpuz and PPO-UAE Chairman Engr. Elmer Casao also shared their congratulatory messages.
PAFTE-UAE extends its gratitude to the Migrant Workers’ Office (MWO) for its assistance, as the leading agency for the various professionals under the SPLE offered by the Professional Regulation Commission for Filipino professionals abroad.
