Dubai Customs successfully dismantled a sophisticated marijuana smuggling operation that had been active for an extended period, the authority announced on Sunday. Smugglers concealed the illegal substance in vacuum-sealed plastic bags to mask its odor and reduce the volume for easier transportation.
According to a Khaleej Times report, the bags were hidden inside cardboard and plastic food product boxes of popular brands to avoid detection. Over the course of the investigation, authorities intercepted 13 smuggling attempts, seizing a total of 54 kilograms of marijuana.
Through advanced technology and thorough inspections, Dubai Customs uncovered the operation, which had been used by travellers from a specific Asian country. This significant bust highlights the agency’s vigilance in combating international drug trafficking.
