Hontiveros opposes Quiboloy’s plea for hospital arrest, urges fair treatment

Senator Risa Hontiveros criticized the recent motion by Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Apollo Quiboloy to be placed under hospital arrest in Davao City, calling it an “entitled” request.

“Seryosong mga krimen ng human trafficking, rape, at child abuse ang kinakaharap ni Apollo Quiboloy. Dapat pantay-pantay ang trato sa mga akusado,” Hontiveros stated, emphasizing that no special treatment should be given to Quiboloy due to his status.

Quiboloy’s legal team filed the motion before the Pasig City Regional Trial Court, citing existing medical conditions as the basis for requesting his transfer to the Veterans Memorial Medical Center in Davao. His co-accused, Ingrid Canada, was included in the same petition.

In response, Hontiveros argued that Quiboloy should not dictate where he is detained. “Wala na siya sa loob ng ‘King Dome,’ kaya huwag na siyang mag-astang Diyos,” she added.

The court has since ordered Quiboloy and Canada’s medical checkup with government doctors, but Quiboloy remains at the PNP detention facility pending the resolution of his motion.

Quiboloy and his co-accused are facing charges for human trafficking and child abuse. The preacher also faces charges in the US for sex trafficking and other crimes, which his camp continues to deny.
