Actress and TV host Kris Aquino, known as the “Queen of All Media,” has returned to the Philippines after spending two years in the United States seeking treatment for multiple autoimmune diseases.
Aquino arrived early Friday morning, as confirmed by her close friend and fashion designer Michael Leyva, who posted on Instagram, “I’m so back.” A photo of Aquino and her companions aboard a plane was also shared by her fan account.
In an Instagram post, Aquino explained her decision to return home, citing the need to begin a new round of treatment. “I need to start my second immunosuppressant infusions in 2-3 weeks… Emotionally I need the encouragement and unwavering faith my sisters and cousins, closest friends, and trusted team of doctors can provide,” she said. She added that her current health battle has escalated to protecting her vital organs.
Aquino has been diagnosed with six autoimmune conditions, including Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) and Rheumatoid Arthritis, and is awaiting test results for two more.
Expressing gratitude for those who supported her in the U.S., Aquino also gave a special mention to her son Bimby, calling him her “source of strength.”
Fans and celebrity friends, including Angeline Quinto and Pokwang, flooded her social media with well-wishes.
