Former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque was cited in contempt by the House quad committee for the second time on Thursday, September 12, after failing to submit his financial records as requested. The House leadership approved a motion to detain Roque until he complies with the document submission or until the committee is dissolved.
During a public hearing on September 4, lawmakers issued a show cause order to Roque due to his repeated absences, following the rejection of his motion to quash the subpoena for several documents, including medical records, property sales, and tax filings.
The committee’s investigation ties Roque to the operations of the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) Lucky South 99, as legal counsel for real estate firm Whirlwind Corp., whose incorporator, Katherine Cassandra Li Ong, is a key figure in the probe. Roque was initially cited in contempt on August 22 for his failure to attend an earlier hearing, which he had claimed to be attending in court.
