Massive 360,000 sqm ‘Welcome to Dubai’ lawn greets visitors at airport

A new landscaping project at the intersection of Dubai International Airport and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road has been completed, offering visitors a glowing “Welcome to Dubai” message spread across 360,000 square meters of manicured lawns. According to a Khaleej Times, the Dh26-million initiative by Dubai Municipality is one of the largest beautification projects in the city.

The massive green space features 50,000 plants and shrubs, decorative gravel, and innovative lighting that makes the message visible both day and night. The modern and sustainable design also includes a plant-based fence and an efficient irrigation system to balance urban development with environmental sustainability.

Dubai Municipality’s Director General, Dawoud Al Hajri, said the project aligns with Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s vision of making Dubai the world’s best city to live in. The initiative is part of the emirate’s 2040 Urban Master Plan, aiming to increase green spaces by 105%.
