Four Vietnamese nationals barred from entering the Philippines over illegal work suspicions

Four Vietnamese nationals were denied entry into the Philippines after immigration authorities suspected them of planning to seek illegal employment in the country.

According to the Bureau of Immigration (BI), Truong Quang Than, 28; Bui Van Chi, 36; Ngo Dan Tuong, 22; and Nguyen Hoang Minh Huy, 19, arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 on September 2. The group claimed to be visiting for tourism, but during questioning, they allegedly provided “highly inconsistent statements” about their stay.

The BI also reported that the four individuals had previously overstayed in the Philippines for seven months. One of them eventually admitted to working illegally in a catering business during his last visit without a proper work visa.

“Our country is a no-go zone for those who use tourism as a cover for such schemes,” BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco stated, emphasizing the agency’s stance on preventing the misuse of tourist visas. “Aliens who attempt to enter to abuse the country’s hospitality will be denied entry.”

The four Vietnamese nationals have been placed on the BI’s blacklist, permanently banning them from re-entering the Philippines.
