UAE set to experience weather changes as autumn equinox nears

As summer winds down in the UAE, residents can look forward to cooler temperatures in September. The month is expected to see a gradual decrease in nighttime temperatures, with a more significant drop in the latter half, Khaleej Times reported.

On September 23, the autumn equinox will occur, signaling a balance of day and night as the Sun aligns directly with the equator. In the UAE, this balance will be observed a few days after the equinox.

The National Centre of Meteorology forecasts rain and thunderstorms in some regions due to cumulonimbus cloud formations, especially in eastern and internal areas. Fresh winds may blow dust, reducing visibility, a result of the weakening Indian monsoon depression and thermal lows over the Arabian Peninsula.

Humidity levels are set to increase, particularly in the latter half of September, raising the likelihood of fog and mist in certain areas.

The end of peak summer was marked by the sighting of the Suhail star on August 24, ushering in a transition period known as ‘Sufriya,’ where temperatures begin to moderate. Cooler winter conditions are anticipated to arrive around mid-October, leading up to the ‘Wasm’ period, about 100 days after the Suhail star’s rise.
