Health insurance fines waived for those seeking to rectify visa status in the UAE

Abu Dhabi’s Department of Health has announced that fines related to health insurance violations will be waived for individuals who apply to regularize their residency status under the UAE’s two-month visa amnesty program, starting Sunday, September 1.

The amnesty allows individuals who are currently staying illegally in the UAE to either legalize their residency and remain in the country or leave without incurring any fines. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP) confirmed that there will be no overstay fines or exit fees, and those opting to leave will not face an entry ban, allowing them to return to the UAE with the appropriate visa at any time.

The ICP clarified that the amnesty program applies to all visa types, including tourist and expired residency visas. It also extends to those born without official documentation, enabling them to rectify their status.
