Dubai Police arrest nine for selling unlicensed gas cylinders

Dubai Police have arrested nine individuals for illegally selling unlicensed gas cylinders, which posed a significant threat to public safety. Authorities also confiscated 343 cylinders that were being stored and distributed in unsafe conditions, not meeting the required safety standards. This negligence made the cylinders prone to ignition or explosion, posing a danger to the community.

Brigadier Harib Al Shamsi, Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigation at Dubai Police, emphasized in a Khaleej Times report that the arrests are part of a broader initiative to target illegal street vendors who disregard safety regulations. “These actions are taken to protect the community from behaviors that could cause harm and to ensure the safety and well-being of Dubai’s residents,” he stated.

In addition to the cylinders, two vehicles used by the accused for transporting the unlicensed items were seized. Brigadier Al Shamsi highlighted the importance of adhering to specific standards for the transportation, storage, and use of gas cylinders due to their flammable nature. He urged the public to only purchase gas cylinders from licensed and approved vendors to prevent any potential hazards.
