Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, founder of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC), remains in hiding months after arrest warrants were issued against him. According to his legal counsel, Israelito Torreon, Quiboloy is reluctant to surrender due to fears of “extraordinary rendition” to the United States, where he faces serious charges.
“There is a threat of extraordinary rendition that could send him to America without proving his innocence here in the country,” Torreon stated. He emphasized that Quiboloy wants a written assurance from President Marcos that he will not be extradited to the U.S. without due process in the Philippines.
Quiboloy is facing charges from the U.S. Justice Department for sex trafficking involving girls and women aged 12 to 25, who were allegedly coerced into working as personal assistants and engaging in sexual acts. Additionally, the Philippine justice department has charged him with sexual abuse, human trafficking, and child abuse.
Despite a heightened police presence at KOJC properties in Davao City, including Glory Mountain and Prayer Mountain, Torreon claims these actions are unwarranted and part of a broader effort to intimidate Quiboloy. “This appears to be an excessive exercise of police power,” Torreon said, criticizing the ongoing operations and describing them as violations of their rights.
KOJC insists that any searches are illegal without specific warrants and has denied allegations of hidden rooms or tunnels in their compound. The Philippine National Police (PNP) has yet to provide a statement on these claims but continues its operations to locate Quiboloy, whom they consider a fugitive.
