Four jailed in Dubai for scamming woman through fake job offer on WhatsApp

A Dubai court has sentenced four individuals to three months in jail after they were found guilty of running a scam that duped a woman into paying money for a non-existent part-time job.

According to a Khaleej Times report, the group lured the victim through a fake job advertisement shared on WhatsApp, promising quick financial returns that never materialized.

Authorities revealed that the scam was a well-coordinated effort to exploit the victim’s trust. The fraudsters convinced her to send money, falsely claiming they could double it swiftly. After receiving the funds, they disappeared without fulfilling their promises.

Following their jail term, the convicted scammers will be deported from the UAE, according to the ruling by Dubai’s Misdemeanour Court.

The case has prompted Dubai’s public prosecution to reiterate its warning against falling for unsolicited job offers or financial schemes circulated through mobile messaging apps. Authorities urged residents to report such scams to the police, emphasizing that these tactics are designed to exploit vulnerable individuals and steal their money.
