Temperatures in UAE may reach 50ºC today, Aug. 28, 2023

The National Centre of Meteorology in the UAE has issued red and yellow fog alerts for parts of the country, warning of “a chance of fog formation with a deterioration in horizontal visibility” from 4am to 8.30am on Monday. The advisory is especially pertinent for some coastal and internal western areas.

In addition to the fog alerts, the weather is expected to be fair to partly cloudy with a possibility of rain in the East and South in the afternoon. Light to moderate winds will freshen at times, causing blowing dust and sand in some regions.

The Centre forecasts soaring temperatures that could reach as high as 50ºC. Abu Dhabi is expected to experience temperatures up to 44ºC, while Dubai may see the mercury rise to 43ºC. However, the temperatures could also drop to lows of 30ºC in Abu Dhabi, 33ºC in Dubai, and 27ºC in mountainous regions.

Humidity levels are expected to range from 20 to 90 percent in Abu Dhabi and 25 to 85 percent in Dubai, leading to a humid night and Tuesday morning. There is also a probability of fog or mist formation over some coastal and internal areas during these periods.

Sea conditions are predicted to be calm, with slight conditions in the Arabian Gulf and slight to moderate conditions in the Oman Sea.
