In a bid to promote environmental sustainability, Abu Dhabi Mobility is rolling out new recycling units at bus stations in Al Ain and Al Dhafra. These units, set to be installed in key locations, will allow commuters to recycle plastic bottles and earn rewards in return.
By using the Cycled Rewards app, residents can accumulate points for each plastic bottle deposited—one point for 600ml bottles and two points for larger ones. These points can be converted into dirhams, with every 10 points equating to one dirham added to their Hafilat smart cards, which are used for public transport payments across the emirate.
This initiative is part of an ongoing collaboration between Abu Dhabi Mobility, the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, and Cycled Technologies, a company known for its innovative recycling solutions. The project, which began in 2022, aims to encourage more residents to adopt sustainable practices while benefiting from their efforts.
