Filipino-American activist shot by Israeli troops during West Bank protest

A Filipino-American activist from New Jersey, known by the pseudonym “Amado Sison,” was shot by Israeli troops while participating in a protest in the West Bank, as reported by Filipinos 4 Palestine. According to an AFP report, the incident occurred last Friday in the village of Beita, where Sison was hit in the back of his right thigh while attempting to escape the protest around 3 p.m.

According to a spokesperson from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the troops employed riot control measures and fired live rounds to disperse the gathering. Sison, currently recovering in a Nablus hospital, recounted the event, stating that he and others were filming the demonstration when they had to flee from advancing Israeli forces, who were using tear gas and live ammunition.

Sison received medical assistance from local villagers and was treated at a nearby clinic before being moved to the hospital, where he is now in stable condition. Filipinos 4 Palestine is calling for justice for Sison and the villagers of Beita, as international concerns continue to rise over the ongoing violence in the West Bank.
