OFW from Middle East wins P27.4 million in eLotto, flies home to claim prize from PCSO

A 53-year-old overseas Filipino worker (OFW) from the Middle East returned to the Philippines to claim his P27,450,306.20 eLotto prize after winning the Lotto 6/42 draw on July 11.

The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) announced on its website that the OFW hit the winning combination of 33-17-40-09-42-20.

The OFW, who has been working abroad for 20 years to support his family, regularly plays the lotto whenever he visits home, using numbers based on the birth dates of his family members. With the introduction of eLotto last year, he was able to participate in the lottery even while overseas.

Now a millionaire, the OFW expressed plans to stay in the Philippines, invest in a business, and set aside funds for medical needs. According to Republic Act 1169, winners have one year from the draw date to claim their prize at the PCSO Main Office in Mandaluyong City.
