Director Darryl Yap has announced that the film “Maid in Malacañang” will be adapted into a 16-episode series, with filming set to commence in September. The announcement was made during former First Lady Imelda Marcos’ 95th birthday celebration, hosted by her daughter, Senator Imee Marcos, at their San Juan City residence.
The event saw the attendance of the film’s cast, including Cristine Reyes, Cesar Montano, Ruffa Gutierrez, Diego Loyzaga, and Ella Cruz. Diego Loyzaga expressed his excitement about the project, stating, “This is like a reunion… I just found out. I am surprised. I am excited.”
“Maid in Malacañang” depicts the final 72 hours of the Marcos family in the Malacañang Palace in February 1986, just before they were flown to Hawaii during the People Power Revolution. Cesar Montano portrays the late President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., Ruffa Gutierrez plays the former First Lady Imelda Marcos, Cristine Reyes stars as Imee Marcos, Diego Loyzaga as Bongbong Marcos, and Ella Cruz as Irene Araneta.
Cristine Reyes also revealed her involvement in another upcoming project. “On July 4, we will have a story conference. It is a fictional film,” she teased.
The birthday celebration included a mass led by Reverend Father Boyd Sulpico OP and a short program honoring Imelda Marcos. Notable attendees included Dulce, Robert Seña, Senator Cynthia Villar, her husband Manny Villar, and their daughter, Rep. Camille Villar.
