A tragic incident at the BART Powell Station in San Francisco resulted in the death of 74-year-old Corazon Dandan, a Filipina who was pushed by a homeless person while waiting for a train. Dandan, who worked as a telephone operator at the Parc 55 Hotel in Union Square despite being retired, was on her way home to Daly City when the attack occurred around 11 p.m. last Monday.
According to BART Police, the suspect pushed Dandan as the train was approaching, causing her head to hit the moving train before she fell onto the platform. She was rushed to San Francisco General Hospital but succumbed to her injuries.
The suspect, identified as Trevor Belmont, alias Hoak Taing, was arrested immediately and faces charges of murder and elder abuse.
Dandan’s family has requested privacy as they mourn and have not issued any statements regarding the incident. The Filipino community in San Francisco has expressed their outrage and called for increased security measures in public areas to prevent similar tragedies.
