The UAE has introduced the ‘Al Freej Fridge’ campaign to offer respite to construction and industrial workers during the hottest hours of the day. This initiative aims to distribute cold water, juices, and ice cream to workers, promoting compassion and generosity within the Dubai community.
According to a Khaleej Times report, the campaign, supported by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation, Furjan Dubai, the UAE Water Aid Foundation, and the UAE Food Bank, will continue until August 23. It targets one million workers, including cleaners, construction workers, delivery riders, and agricultural workers, operating in outdoor conditions.
Furjan Dubai is utilizing refrigerated vehicles to distribute refreshments across various areas in Dubai. Volunteers from the local community are participating in this effort to help mitigate the health risks associated with high temperatures, such as dehydration and heat stress.
Dr. Abdul Karim Sultan Al Olama, CEO of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation, emphasized that the campaign reflects the core values of giving and compassion in Dubai’s society. He highlighted the importance of supporting workers, particularly during the challenging summer months.
Alia Al Shamlan, Director of Furjan Dubai, noted that the campaign embodies the Emirati society’s values of solidarity and compassion. She expressed gratitude to the partners and volunteers, emphasizing their crucial role in the success of the initiative. The campaign seeks to reach one million workers, ensuring their health and well-being amidst the harsh summer conditions, and reinforcing the sense of community in Dubai.
