Dubai schools to train teachers in artificial intelligence

Dubai schools will soon have teachers qualified in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) as part of a newly launched training programme. Announced on Wednesday by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, this initiative aims to equip educators in the emirate with the necessary skills to use AI and its applications effectively.

“Our aim is to create an educational system that equips our students with future-ready tools and provides an optimal learning environment supported by AI technologies. Investing in education is an investment in Dubai’s present and future,” Sheikh Hamdan stated in a Khaleej Times report.

This programme is aligned with the recently launched Dubai Universal Blueprint for Artificial Intelligence (DUB.AI). It will be overseen by the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence, in collaboration with the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA).

Teachers in Dubai will receive extensive training on advanced AI applications, focusing on automating tasks and personalizing learning experiences. The training will be a blend of practical and online sessions, with regular assessments to ensure effectiveness.

The top 10 teachers who successfully integrate AI into their teaching practices will be recognized with awards totaling Dh1-million during the next AI Retreat in April 2025.
