The Abu Dhabi Police have refuted circulating social media rumors about a 50% discount on traffic fines. The police clarified on Wednesday that no such discount is being offered.
The only current discount available for motorists in Abu Dhabi is an initiative for early settlement of dues. Motorists can receive a 35% discount on penalties if paid within 60 days from the date of the traffic violation. After 60 days and up to one year, the discount is reduced to 25%.
“Ensure the accuracy of information before sharing them,” the Abu Dhabi Police emphasized, urging residents to avoid spreading unverified information. “Rely only on official media sources.”
Spreading false information in the UAE is a serious offense, with penalties including fines up to Dh200,000 and imprisonment.
