Two Filipino workers injured in Hong Kong landslide

Two overseas Filipino workers (OFW) in Hong Kong were injured during heavy rains on Saturday, as reported by Sam Nielsen on Super Radyo dzBB on Sunday.

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) stated that they are closely monitoring the condition of the two OFWs through its Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Office in Hong Kong.

“The two OFWs, a married couple working for a resort owner in Sai Kung, New Territories, Hong Kong, were taking photos and videos of the storm’s damage to the facility when a landslide occurred,” the DMW said.

Both individuals were promptly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The wife sustained head injuries but is now in stable condition and remains in the hospital for further observation. Meanwhile, her husband suffered leg injuries and is currently undergoing an operation.

The DMW-MWO-OWWA has provided initial financial assistance to the couple and will continue monitoring their condition.
