Dubai airports and airlines issue weather advisory for passengers

Dubai Airports and two local airlines have issued advisories for passengers in anticipation of inclement weather, cautioning travelers to brace for potential delays caused by rain and traffic en route to Dubai International airport.

The advisory, released on Wednesday, urges passengers to plan ahead and allocate extra travel time to reach the airport promptly, whether by car or public transport. A Dubai Airports spokesperson emphasized the importance of preparation, stating, “With unsettled weather forecasted for tomorrow, we advise guests…to plan ahead…and consider using the Dubai Metro to get to DXB Terminals 1 and 3.”

Emirates airline echoed similar sentiments, with their spokesperson highlighting the impending heavy thunderstorms expected on May 2 and advising passengers to anticipate road delays and utilize additional travel time. They recommended utilizing the Dubai Metro where feasible.

The UAE’s National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) has issued alerts for medium to heavy rains over the next two days, beginning Wednesday evening. Consequently, employers have been encouraged to facilitate remote work arrangements, and schools in Sharjah and Dubai have announced a switch to distance learning.

Emirates further advised passengers to ensure their contact details are up-to-date for the latest flight information. Similarly, flydubai urged travelers to allow extra time for their journey and update their contact details via the airline’s website for the most recent updates regarding their flights.

Passengers are advised to stay informed about their flight status and weather conditions, as the adverse weather may impact travel plans over the coming days.
