81-year-old grandfather fatally beaten by 27-year-old grandson in Manila family dispute

An 81-year-old grandfather tragically lost his life after being beaten by his 27-year-old grandson in Barangay 770, San Andres Bukid, Manila on Monday night. The incident, which stemmed from a family feud, has left the community in shock.

According to reports, the altercation began earlier that Monday morning between the victim’s daughter, known as “Julie,” and her husband over financial matters. Matters escalated when they were confronted by Julie’s father, who was intoxicated at the time.

“This evening, my father was drunk, he was intoxicated… He was cursing at my wife, picking a fight. He couldn’t accept what was happening in my life,” Julie lamented.

The commotion caught the attention of Julie’s newly awakened child, who allegedly witnessed the grandfather verbally abusing Julie’s husband. In a fit of anger, the grandson reportedly struck the elderly man.

“My child heard the grandfather cursing at his father, came out, and supposedly punched him. But from what I know, it was a push,” Julie recounted.

Eyewitnesses corroborated the sequence of events, with Barangay Captain Lourdes Delgado expressing dismay over the violence. “What I heard was that he was punched and fell, hit his head. Then he was punched repeatedly. They should have handled it differently because he’s already old,” Delgado remarked.

Efforts to apprehend the grandson, who fled the scene, were unsuccessful. Despite being rushed to the hospital, the grandfather succumbed to his injuries.

Delgado suspects that the grandson may have been under the influence of illicit substances during the incident.

Julie issued a heartfelt plea for her son to surrender to authorities, saying, “Wherever you are, turn yourself in. Do what you need to do. That’s your father. That’s your grandfather. You did this. Come home. Surrender, please.”

Authorities are actively searching for the suspect to bring him to justice.
