UAE landscapes transformed by rain, unveiling rare greenery

Following days of intermittent rainfall across the UAE, the typically dry landscapes of the country have undergone a remarkable transformation, revealing a lush green spectacle rarely seen in this region.

Residents are delighted to witness the usually grey and arid terrain now adorned with a refreshing carpet of greenery. Along roadsides where dry land once dominated, vibrant signs of life now flourish, bringing renewed vitality to the surroundings.

In Ras Al Khaimah, the mountains of Al Huwaylat are blanketed in greenery, while the Ghaf trees lining the roads have adopted a deeper, richer shade of green.

Videos shared by the UAE’s weather-related social media account, Storm.ae, showcase the central region of Sharjah, particularly Al Faya and Mleiha, coming alive after consecutive days of rain.

The agricultural farms in Al Ain, known for producing green-leafy vegetables, have welcomed the relief following a relatively drier winter. Now, the desert landscape blooms with an array of beautiful white and yellow wildflowers.

Despite the picturesque scenes, the UAE continues to experience a deepening upper-air trough, promising scattered showers and strong winds expected to persist for three days starting Sunday.

The weather department has cautioned residents about unstable weather conditions, anticipating an increase in cloud cover with the potential for light to moderate rainfall. Heavier downpours, accompanied by intervals of lightning and thunder, could lead to a noticeable drop in temperatures. While the rain is forecasted to ease by Tuesday evening, the Met Department emphasizes the need to remain vigilant against potential hazards.
