YouTube sensation Kristel Fulgar bravely disclosed her health journey, shedding light on her recent surgery to remove a rare tumor discovered in her leg. In a candid YouTube vlog posted on Friday, March 22, Fulgar shared the details of her ordeal, describing it as the “hardest challenge” she has faced yet.
The lump, detected in her calf area back in 2022, prompted Fulgar to confront not just physical but also mental hurdles. “There were a lot of ‘what ifs’ and I cried every night to sleep,” she revealed, reflecting on the emotional toll the diagnosis took on her.
Identified as schwannoma, a rare tumor affecting the nervous system, Fulgar deliberated over the decision to undergo surgery for a year. Concerns over its growth and the possibility of malignancy ultimately led her to choose surgery, despite its risks.
“I had my surgery in Korea,” Fulgar disclosed, highlighting the support of her partner and friend who took turns caring for her in the absence of family. However, her decision to return to the Philippines for continued recovery was driven by family ties. “My mom is in the Philippines and wants to take care of me until I fully recover,” she shared.
Schwannomas, though typically benign, can pose serious health risks, with a potential for malignancy in rare instances, according to the National Cancer Institute.
