The Hanging Gardens in Kalba, spanning over 1.6 million square feet with over 100,000 trees and towering at 281 meters above sea level, have officially opened their gates to residents. The inauguration ceremony, graced by Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, took place on March 8.
During the event, Dr Sheikh Sultan explored the garden’s sections, marveling at its green spaces, floral terraces, and cascading waterfalls. He also enjoyed a musical performance by local school students, expressing their appreciation.
Residents of Kalba extended their gratitude to Dr Sheikh Sultan for his support in initiating developmental projects in the area. The Sharjah Ruler, in return, took commemorative photos with the children and explored the garden’s central restaurant, boasting a classic semi-circular design and panoramic views of the surroundings.
The garden offers various recreational activities, including designated areas for children, mountain climbing routes, and a skating arena. Additionally, visitors can enjoy a scenic train ride through the garden’s stations, offering waiting areas for exploration.
The project, aimed at enhancing Kalba’s economic, tourism, and cultural landscape, serves as a premier tourist destination, catering to both locals and tourists alike.
