The Filipino community in the UAE is gearing up for a grand celebration of Kalayaan 2024, marking the 126th anniversary of Philippine Independence on June 9, 2024, at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Organized by Infinite Communities, Emirates Loves Philippines, and The Filipino Channel, this event is not just a celebration but a grand showcase of Filipino talent and culture.
Reflecting on the success of the previous year, which drew a crowd exceeding 30,000, this year’s event coincides with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the UAE and the Philippines.
“This celebration is a momentous occasion, highlighting our vibrant culture and the deep ties between the Philippines and the UAE,” said Philippine Ambassador to the UAE, His Excellency Alfonso Ver.
He further encouraged the Filipino community to “celebrate these significant milestones that mark 2024 as a banner year for us.”
Elena C Cruz, Founder and CEO of Infinite Communities, shared her excitement, stating, “Kalayaan 2024 embodies our pride and joy, a testament to the unity and generosity of the Filipino community and our partners, now in our third year with Emirates Loves Philippines and The Filipino Channel.”
Josie Conlu, a community champion, promised an event surpassing last year’s success: “Expect an even grander spectacle this year, with more talent, more diversity, and a richer tapestry of our culture, fostering unity and camaraderie.”
Adding to the excitement, Joseph Arnie Garcia, Managing Director of ABS-CBN EMEA for The Filipino Channel, highlighted the participation of Filipino stars Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino, celebrating TFC’s 30th Anniversary.
“Their presence on the Kalayaan stage is our tribute to the Filipino spirit, and we invite everyone to join this free celebration of our heritage,” Garcia noted.
With free admission, Kalayaan 2024 invites Filipinos across the region to partake in a day-long festivity that promises to be a memorable expression of cultural pride and unity.
