The UAE government has officially declared the working hours for public sector employees in Abu Dhabi during the upcoming month of Ramadan. According to the announcement, government employees will adhere to a schedule of 9am to 2:30pm from Monday to Thursday, with an early finish at 12pm on Fridays.
This year, the initiative also introduces a significant shift towards flexible working arrangements, allowing up to 70% of government employees the option to work remotely on Fridays, provided their roles do not necessitate their physical presence in the workplace.
The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) outlined these changes as part of a broader effort to accommodate the observance of Ramadan, during which federal employees will see a reduction of 3.5 hours in their workday from Monday to Thursday and 1.5 hours on Friday.
Moreover, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has announced that private sector employees will benefit from a two-hour reduction in their daily work hours throughout the holy month. Employers in the private sector are encouraged to adopt flexible or remote working arrangements that align with the specified Ramadan working hours, considering the specific requirements of their operations.
