The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) has revealed its plans to extend aid to 1.8 million individuals across the UAE and 44 countries worldwide through its Ramadan programmes this year. With an initial investment totaling approximately Dh37,606,500, the ERC aims to provide essential support during the holy month.
The comprehensive programmes encompass various initiatives, including iftar meals, Zakat Al Fitr contributions, Eid clothing, and Ramadan food parcels. Within the UAE, over 1 million people are set to benefit from the iftar programme alone, while approximately 35,000 individuals will receive essential Ramadan food baskets for the needy.
Introducing a novel initiative, the ERC will establish dedicated Ramadan sites and tents exclusively for women’s iftar gatherings in three locations across Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Ajman.
In facilitating donations, the ERC has designated 321 collection sites nationwide, strategically positioned in shopping malls, bustling markets, and densely populated areas. Additionally, various avenues such as the ERC centers, website, smartphone application, bank deposits, text messages, toll-free phone numbers, cash donation boxes, and electronic devices are available for contributions.
Externally, the ERC’s reach extends to benefit 806,448 individuals across Asia, Africa, Europe, and South America. Notably, the ERC will allocate funds for iftar projects, Zakat Al Fitr, and Eid clothing in these regions.
The ERC’s seasonal Ramadan campaign, themed ‘Ramadan… Continuous Giving,’ was launched during a press conference at its headquarters in Abu Dhabi. Rashid Mubarak Al Mansouri, Secretary-General of ERC, emphasized the organization’s commitment to expanding its aid efforts, particularly in regions such as the Gaza Strip, where daily iftar meal distributions will reach 10,000 individuals.
