8 tourists stranded at 3,500 feet on UAE mountain rescued in daring operation

Eight tourists who found themselves stranded at 3,500 feet on a mountain in Ras Al Khaimah were safely airlifted to ground level, according to Ras Al Khaimah Police on Sunday.

The rescue operation was conducted by Ras Al Khaimah Police’s Air Wing Section. Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Ali Al Shehhi, acting head of the Air Wing Section, stated that the police operations room received a report regarding the stranded foreigners in a mountainous area north of the emirate.

Responding promptly, a police helicopter was dispatched to the scene, with cooperation from other authorities, to rescue the stranded tourists. Lt Col Al Shehhi reassured the public that all tourists were found to be in good health following the rescue.

In light of this incident, he emphasized the importance of caution for all members of society, including citizens, residents, and visitors, especially when venturing into mountainous areas. He urged everyone to avoid rugged terrain that could potentially endanger their safety.
