Nestled amidst the picturesque scenery of Umingan, Pangasinan, a tale of artistic endeavor and community spirit unfolds. Here, amidst the rolling hills and whispering winds, resides Jeffrey Orias Pangibitan—a 32-year-old freelance artist whose canvas knows no limits. Beyond the strokes of his brush lies a story of unwavering dedication, where creativity meets compassion, and every hue paints a picture of resilience and respect.
Jeffrey’s artistic journey began in his early years, where his love for creativity found expression in various forms.
“These days, I’m focused on painting as one of my main sources of income,” he shares with The Global Filipino Magazine.
But his artistic endeavors don’t stop there; Jeffrey also dabbles in poetry, essays, and short stories, painting vibrant stories that capture the essence of his imagination.
Reflecting on his humble beginnings, Jeffrey recalls his first steps into the art scene.
“I occasionally take part in exhibits, showcasing my work to a wider audience,” he says with a hint of nostalgia.
Each stroke of his brush tells a story, not just of artistic growth but of personal triumphs and challenges overcome.
Nurturing dreams, building community
Jeffrey’s life extends far beyond his studio walls. When he’s not lost in his paintings, he dedicates his time to supporting his sister’s business and nurturing his entrepreneurial ventures.
“I’m also building my own business, slowly but surely,” he adds with a smile, underscoring his dedication to both his family and his dreams.
The road to success hasn’t been without its hurdles, from juggling multiple jobs to battling the dreaded artist’s block.
“Art block can be tough,” he admits, reflecting on the daily struggles he faces in his industry.
Yet, with unwavering support from his family and sheer perseverance, Jeffrey emerges stronger, his passion for art burning brighter than ever.
Looking ahead, Jeffrey’s dreams stretch far beyond the confines of his canvas.
“One of my goals for 2024 is to hold a solo art exhibit, inspiring younger generations to embrace their creative talents,” he shares eagerly.
But his aspirations don’t end there. Jeffrey harbors a deep desire to give back to his community, envisioning art projects that support causes close to his heart, such as aiding children with disabilities.
In the face of adversity, Jeffrey’s advice to his fellow kabayans is a beacon of hope and resilience.
“Life is like a battery,” he muses, “it needs both positive and negative to function.”
Through his words, he encourages others to embrace life’s challenges as opportunities for growth and transformation.
