58% of Filipinos ‘very happy’ with their love lives according to a survey

A recent survey conducted by the Social Weather Stations (SWS) has shown that over half of respondents expressed contentment with their love lives, just in time for Valentine’s Day. Out of 1,200 adults polled nationwide in December last year, 58 percent stated they were “very happy,” while the rest indicated they “could be happier” or had no love life.

The survey, released on Feb. 11, also highlighted a notable increase in the percentage of Filipinos reporting “no love life,” rising from 10 percent in 2002 to 19 percent in 2023. However, the 58 percent satisfaction rate is noted to be the highest since 2011’s record-high of 59 percent.

SWS further revealed insights into the happiness levels among different relationship statuses. For married couples, the majority expressed contentment, with 76 percent of men and 67 percent of women stating they were “very happy” with their love lives. Similarly, among “live-in partners,” 69 percent of men and 64 percent of women reported high levels of satisfaction.

In terms of Valentine’s Day gift preferences, the survey indicated varied desires among respondents. Money, love and companionship, and flowers emerged as top choices, with 16 percent, 11 percent, and 10 percent respectively. Interestingly, there were gender differences in gift preferences, with more women opting for money and flowers compared to men.
