92% of UAE residents plan summer holidays, yet half remain unbooked

As the UAE gears up for summer, a new survey by global travel app Skyscanner reveals that while 92% of UAE residents are planning summer holidays abroad, nearly half (49%) have not yet booked their trips. The primary reasons include uncertainty about travel dates (51%) and destinations (35%). Moreover, 40% of travelers are still searching for the best deals, with 22% hoping for last-minute savings.

To aid travelers, Skyscanner has released several tips for saving on flights this summer. Notably, the week of August 12 is highlighted as the most cost-effective period to travel, potentially saving families an average of AED 804 compared to peak July weeks.

Ayoub El Mamoun, Skyscanner’s Travel Trends and Destination Expert, emphasizes the importance of strategic booking: “We understand the excitement and preparation that goes into planning a summer holiday. Our aim is to extend the reach of every traveler’s budget by leveraging our extensive data to recommend the most economical times to book and travel.”

Additionally, Skyscanner’s updated Savings Generator tool provides insights into the best booking times for popular destinations, like booking a trip to Cairo 10 weeks in advance or London four weeks ahead.

For those still undecided, Skyscanner suggests using their ‘Everywhere Search’ feature, which helps discover budget-friendly destinations, including deals as low as AED 254 for return flights to select locations.

The app also highlights substantial price drops in popular destinations such as Istanbul, Cairo, and Manchester, making these spots attractive options for budget-conscious travelers this summer.
